I gave up on Wein a few years ago. Do you need the ‘safe’ part of safesync? If not there more reliable options: the Nikon hot shoe to PC sync adapters are much more reliable (I have used them with Canons that did not have a PC sync socket).
PC sync cables are also notoriously unreliable

Hugowolf, thank you much for the response. Yes, I have read many blogs and forums stating that the sync cords are not reliable, that is why we tried using the radio trigger. The radio trigger produces a worse misfire rate, however. I have not thought about trying a Nikon hot shoe to PC sync adapter. I purchased the Weinsafe out of desparation, thinking something about it might provide more reliability, especially at $50 a pop. It does seem to provide a very snug, tight connection to the hot shoe, but beyond that, I don't know what benefit it confers. Thank you so much.
