Re: Absolutely baffling menu layout on OM-D

More gripes (in the hopes of beginning the healing):
1. As another poster pointed out, it is trivially easy to get the camera into a set of modes that
a) You have no idea how to get out of
b) Because you're unaware they're even on, since the camera "disappears" most of its most important setting indications from the evf/lvf after a few seconds. Are you in auto focus or manual focus? Who knows? The camera certainly won't tell you just by looking at it. Is your white balance set to daylight, tungsten, or "auto?" Who knows, the camera certainly won't tell you just by looking at it.
2. It is SLOW. At least compared to my G1 and GH2, both of which "woke up" from power on or sleep nearly instantaneously. And despite all the claims of having the fastest autofocus in the universe, I find my OM-D's autofocus is considerably slower than the GH2s. Note that I am using the same Panasonic lenses on the OM-D, so maybe that's the problem? Not to mention the focus box appears to be a fixed (LARGE) size and has a habit of wandering all over the place on its own.
3. Baffling features that are presented as revolutions in engineering and user design but discern no actual real-world use/utility. #1 on that would be the "multifunction" button/mode, which presents up to four different settings, apparently chosen from an arbitrary set of all the settings, which can be instantly selected with the appropriate application of fingers, tongues, toes, and noses from at least three different individuals simultaneously
All, that, the image quality is the best I've ever seen (for m4/3 at least) and the camera turns heads everywhere I take it (and that's all that really counts). With all this talk about the menu system being a legacy holdover, I'm going to have to go home and power up the C-3030Z and see if I see a resemblance.
