If I’m reading Nikon’s forecasts correctly, it appears as if they think they’ll sell as many of their mirrorless cameras as Olympus or Panasonic within the first six months of its appearance. We’ll see if that’s true. But with a two+ year head start, that’s not what should happen with a truly successful new product category.!"

Thanks for providing a link to your source. Of course, if Nikon had been able to capture even 1/4 of the mirrorless market by now, I think most people would have considered it a success (regardless of failing to meet an overinflated prediction).

I agree that the Nikon 1 leaves much to be desired and that Nikon had to hold a fire sale to unload the J1 & V1 just before releasing the J2/V2. The pricing on the new models suggests that Nikon is still overpricing the 1s. There is some good technology in these cameras, especially the high frame rate. However, I agree that they will likely fail, or become a small niche product, but I also think that a failure of the 1 will force Nikon to bring out a different mirrorless camera.
