Small, robust hotshoe mic that can deal with concert sound.

I use a 7d to shoot punk shows, mostly still, only occasionally video. The built-in mic is an utter fail at those high sound levels. Usually have a recorder at the back of the crowd. But that means finding someone to hold the recorder, hoping they don't screw up, and syncing the sound in post.
I'd like to at least have camera sound as a backup. But I don't want a tight shotgun pattern, and I don't want something big and protruding that's going to get broken.
Don't need crazy sound quality—again, punk rock—but I do at least need something that doesn't mechanically clip at high sound levels.
