The Nikon 1 was suppose to have 50% market share within 6 months.

Its been a costly 4 years in development.

Units didn't start moving until a 60% price drop was introduced just 7 months after launch.

Nikon 1 users are not buying additional lenses or accessories.

Frequent reports of poor customer satisfaction and usage.

The Nikon 1 has been out manoeuvred by most of the competition.

Poor outlook for Nikon 1 in 2013

Looking at target market it's even more worrying for Nikon 1

Target market - camera joshi and soccer mums:
Nikon1 -11.2%
Olympus PEN - 28.8% (just from top 20, actually likely to be higher when other models included)
Sony 4.4%
Panasonic - 16.6%
Pentax 5.8%
Nikon 1 have 16.65% (just from top 20, actually likely to be LOWER when other models included) of sales to their target market whereas micro four thirds have 53% (just from top 20, actually likely to be HIGHER when other models included) !!

I'm actually just shocked that Nikon said they would have 50% of the market. Very strange for a company like Nikon to stab at something like that.

All the best.

Danny.
