Because they're so cheap ($10-20 on eBay), I'd follow the advice of a poster on here from awhile ago and just buy an adapter for each lens you plan on using. I only have a 50 1.4 presently but am contemplating my next and will probably get a second adapter for it. They are fiddly PITAs, you're right about that.
