The Pentax K-30 appears to be available with either an 18-55mm WR lens or a 18-135mm WR lens.

Both lenses are spec'd at  F3.5-5.6.

Is the 19-135 lens really as fast as the 18-55 within the shared zoom range? I wouldn't tend to expect that.

I'm probably willing to pay the extra for the longer zoom range if, in practice, the lens maintains the f-equiviilent perfomrance, but I'm not willing to give up lens speed--low-light performance is the main reason for getting a K-30

For a prime lens I'm looking at the smc PENTAX DA 35mm F2.4 AL.  Better suggestion there? Pentax gives 53.5mm as the focal equivilent in 35mm format, and that's about what I'm trying to hit.

thanks all,

bob
