After today's outing, I have decided to retire my S5 Pro. Just not happy with the lack of resolution anymore. Love the colors. More than that, just adore the color of this camera. But the lack of resolution is killing me.
Now the decision on what to replace it with is reaching red hot intensity. Do I retire my prized Nikkor 24mm f/1.4 lens along with it? This lens is legendary, one of the finest wide angles ever made. Sharp corner to corner with f/1.4 to boot.
If I drop my addiction to Fuji colors, and go with the Nikon D800, I get my resolution and keep the 24mm.
But my Fuji color addiction is hard to shake. Almost impossible. The X-E1 is an alternative way to go forward. But then, I have no SLR, for the first time in 25 or more years.
I've never had such an anguishing camera decision before. I'm usually pretty good picking out gear and rarely fret over it. This is uncharted territory for me.

Hi,
I would not care too much regarding the lens. I have tried it once and while I think it is a very good lens I would not decide on a system based on this one lens.
I would also consider that you used it on cropped bodies in the past that means you are used to a 35mm field of view not 24mm.
I would get a Fuji X plus the upcoming 1.4/23mm. It gives you what you had in the past with better image quality in a much smaller package.

Yes....But when you have a "bread and butter" lens (and the 24/1.4 qualifies as such), it's tough to give that up, especially if it has become integral to your shooting style. I shoot the 35/1.4 G Nikon on my D800, and I just love this lens to death! It is razor sharp and has smooth bokeh. That alone would make it almost impossible for me to move away from Nikon unless I was giving up on DSLR altogether, but it's way too soon for that (at least for me).
