Look Back in Wonder: January 2003
Jan 1, 2013

This image caused me a lot of grief from those, who refused to read the caption on pbase.

January 2003 was the first month when I was really able to be productive with SD9. There were still raging discussions in the forums about - among other things - the inability of the SD9 to take images at night, that it could not handle highlights, and that it had no dynamic range capabilities. Of course, I had to take images to demonstrate what a piece of cräp it was.

The above image was typical of the mess I imagined raging in the heads of the fudsters. And it caused me quite a bit of grief with some marketing types and others, who decided not to read the caption. I had to take it down, and left it there for a long time. I inserted the original image later.

And then there was the difficulties with Appenzell Haus I. The ever observant ace critic Karl Guttag identified yet another disastrous problem with this imager in the squiggly area on the slope above the snow-covered roof. He claimed this was a further example of the sensor's noisy meanderings. Noisy, not, but rather odorous: these are cowpaths made by Swiss bovines while they graze during the summer.

Enjoy them and Happy New Year to all.
