Aperture can read .xmp files, but it will ignore your adjustment settings. The reason is that these settings apply to Adobe's RAW engine, used by Photoshop and Lightroom. Aperture uses its own RAW engine (or actually MacOS X RAW engine) which is different, so the Adobe settings mean nothing to Aperture.
