Best Photography Books for beginner - need 2

Hi,

I just got a Canon T4i, which is my first dslr, along with the 18-55 IS, 55-250 IS, & 40 STM lenses.

I would like to purchase 2 books for learning.  I have looked on Amazon but there are so many, it is confusing which to buy.

The first book I would like to purchase is one that is specific to this particular camera.  The manuel that came with it I find hard to follow.

The second book I would like to purchase would be a general purpose photography tutorial to learn about photography in general.  I would like something that is easy to understand about the whats and whys.  I don't want anything that goes into the long history of photography or something that only an engineer could understand.

I bought this camera with the hopes of learning how to use it prior to having grandchildren as my son just got married this past June and may start trying in the next year or two.
