The LCD on the D600 was not intended to be a WYSIWYG type of screen.  The display is optimized for view outdoors.  You can change the color profile of the LCD so that it reflects more accurately what your photos will look like.  What I think would be more useful is to have a live histogram available when in Live View mode.  The D800 has one and it's attached to the INFO button.  I use it when I shoot in manual mode, in Live View, on a tripod.
