Russian Party - snapshots

|
My friend Dmitry invited me to the Russian Theatre Calgary Christmas/New Years party. This was a delightfully festive occasion with large quantities of very fine Russian home made food as well as various liquids of questionable health value (but great medicinal value that calmed the nerves The ambiance of the gathering was very different from what I would expect at a typical party in Canada - it was much more open and just plain "fun".
I decided to take the M9 and 35mm Summicron to grab some snapshots. This would be a fine time to get more used to the M9. However I ran into a set of practical problems with the camera. Battery life is abysmal (died after 364 images - and I did not bring a spare battery). High ISO 1600+ is pretty poor. Focus on action is difficult (in spite of the many years that I shot with film Leicas - I didn't instantly "remember" how to do things properly). In a practical sense, it might have been better if I took the Canon 5D-III and the 35mm F1.4.
Here is a set of 9 images from the party - only on or two do I really like for various reasons - most are simply snapshots.
