G12 lens cap possibilities?

I recently got a G-12 to replace my G6 and am a bit dismayed to find there is no lens cap.

What's the best way to protect this lens?

Must I buy a Canon filter adapter (or the Lensmate version), add a UV filter and then a lens cap?

Also...how endemic are scratches from those retractable blades on the lens?

I use this camera as a small carry-everywhere back-up to my DSLR (love the articulating LCD) and appreciate its light weight and compactness.

I know it's not a terribly expensive camera, but I do want to protect it!

Ideas...work-arounds?
