Don't use alkaline AA batteries in your camera if you can help it because they will run down quickly. Nimh type rechargeable batteries such as Sanyo Enloops are much preferred.
Alkaline batteries that are too flat to run the camera will still have enough charge in them to power a remote control.
Thank you for all your suggestion. I am using Energizer 1400 mAH and 2500mAH AA batteries for my Gear.:-)
