I bought an NEX-6 with the kit lens along with the SEL55-210 ($199, long story). I replaced a Nikon D40. After reading of all the issues and shortcomings here with regard to the NEX-6, I'm not feeling too good about dropping $1000 on a mediocre camera.

Maybe I should have just sucked it up and updated to a newer DSLR and a separate pocket digital for keeping in my pocket.

i either need to start enjoying my camera or stop reading........

Didn't read all the responses so i may be repeating what someone else has already said.

The NEX cameras are "good cameras" with very good Sony sensors but the only advantage they have over a DSLR is size.

If you're a long time DSLR user (I was) and switch to an NEX there's a very good chance that you'll be frustrated, until you get familiar with the camera, and after that you'll be disappointed in the native lens selection along with some of Sony's prices.

I wouldn't advice anyone who uses a camera like the Canon 7D, etc. to switch to an NEX unless they care more about size than anything else.

I would advise anyone who wants to upgrade from a compact/point & shoot camera to take a hard look at the NEX cameras.
