Maybe he mean exactly what he say - that if a big player comes within 18 months with a layered sensor, then Sigma has better to consolidate its place in the market before that.

Maybe you shall apply Occams Razor and read what he say instead of making things up he has not said?

The main interesting question regarding his post is if he has inside information or if he just is assuming or guessing.
