DxO Optics Pro

I got an email talking about a special price on DxO Optics Pro software. Reading about it the publisher's site intrigued me, but I'm unclear if it does much if anything, beyond what PS 6 Extended does - especially ACR. I note it has a component for sharpening the image using data about the lens and camera involved. While that's nice, is this any better than what can be achieved with reasonable effort in PS?
I also note a correction component available within Optics Pro or ala carte to correct optical distortions such as one may find using a wide angle lens especially near a vertical such as a tall building. Again, one can do that within PS but my results in PS cause a good deal of image cropping along with the correction where the correction within Optics Pro seems to somehow not involve cropping (or much cropping) - a nice feature.
Comments especially if anybody uses both. Thanks.
