Sadly, the EOS M is just not yet there

Really wanted to love the little M. Think it's the most "minimalist" mirrorless offering yet, stripped down of everything that's not absolutely essential. The optics are not exceptional, they're fine and of good quality.

But the real downer? The slowness. Not AF slowness, but write speeds and startup times.

Hope a firmware will bring relief, but meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out how mighty Canon was able to release such a nice, yet unfinished product.

The competition - first and foremost the Oly OM-D - is way ahead.

Nevertheless, it can't be that Canon is not aware of the deficiencies beside the many positives.

Looking forward to the M2 - or at least an improved firmware.
