Here's one @ 25,600...less severe banding but still evident across the upper right. What do you think?

Can you explain why the exposure compensation is set to -0.33 EV in the dark room but not in the picture of the room with more light?

Also what is your point of focus in the dark room? It obviously is not the lady with the child.

I am thinking the major problem with the camera is the operator!

My recommendation is that you sell the 1Dx and purchase something more forgiving in the Canon Rebel or Nikon Consumer DX SLR categories and stay away from the more demanding Semiprofessional and Professional cameras until you have further tuned your photograph tool usage and skills.

Hope this helps

Thanks Walter. I had the camera set to P mode. I may have bumped it to -0.33 EV by accident. I did focus on the lady selectively. The camera failed to nail it, I heard the lens try to find it, then popped the shutter. I guess when you say the "major" problem is me, there may exist other issues. Why can't I own a 1D X and ask questions, many other fine cameras I have owned have never displayed this "banding". As I said before, I am really pushing this cameras limits and functions to see how it will perform. So still, what is going on with the pink stripes?

An analysis of what we see in the first picture shown:

  1. You say ISO is 26000, but the pictures show ISO of 40000.
  2. You say Aperture is 5.6, but the picture show Aperture of 100.
  3. You say shutter speed is 125, but the picture show speed of 100.
  4. The camera is set to under expose with an Exposure comp. -0.33 EV
  5. The Focal Length of the lens used is 16mm, which will cause distortion. (Fish Eye Effect)

Questions:

Why didn’t you provide the original of the first picture you posted at the top of this thread?

If a camera refuses to focus on your target, it means you have exceeded the cameras capability for that situation, so what makes you think the camera is the problem when you exceeded its capability?

If you did not purposely set the Exposure compensation to -0.33 EV, why post it?

If you have never owned a camera that displayed this problem, why not sell it and get one of those other cameras, and move on?

You under exposed the picture, and used an ultra-wide angle lens which will distort images at close range, why?

Walter, you were of no help at all and mainly added to my frustration, this camera was found to be faulty by a camera rep after diagnostic tests, and exchanged without issue.  You just antagonized the issue and offered the incorrect advice.  If you intend to help offer help, not criticism.  I was right all along.  Thanks to those who were kind.
