I have also had the AF system give me a totally out of focus shot.
My Nikon D300 has a setting wherein the shutter will not fire if there is no focus lock (and of course the setting can be OFF so that the shutter fires no matter what), but I can't find any such setting on the NEX-6. Does such a setting exist or will the NEX-6 always fire the shutter when it's fully depressed, irrespective of focus lock?
If the latter, then it seems mandatory to half depress the release button, check focus, then full depress to take the shot; essentially this is a self induced shutter lag so that the AF system is no better than a P&S.
