New K5 owner, thanks for the help so far - next question, halt during buffer processing

So honestly I'm not trolling here, Pentax owners don't be offended.

Using the camera, like the handling, everything is going well.  Hate the playback delay.  After shooting several shots it seems like the camera is halted while it processes the buffer.  I can't liveview, I can't go into playback to review images that have been processed.  I can still shoot and add to the buffer but I think I may never be able to review images if I keep shooting.  Is there a custom option for: "please don't lockup my camera while buffer processing?"  I've tried shooting jpg, and raw and experience the delay in both.

Seriously though, is this just the way it is or can I do something about it?
