Can Afl/elf button focus in AF on X100?

Can Afl/elf button focus in AF on X100?

I'm guessing the answer will be no, but is there any way the afl button can be set to focus in AF mode as it does in MF? Pain to have to switch to MF if I need to focus nearer than a metre. Sure I could use macro I guess so not a big problem but macro focus is slow.
