Think about your needs.

I think the v500 might be alright, but most people I know use the V700 for scanning film as it's a more suited to the task.

Another thing to think about is how how many of these you have to scan, and how long you are really willing to sit down and do this.

If you don't have that many it may be more cost effective to send them out to a company that will have a far better scanner and people who are trained specifically how to make good scans fast and cheaply.

If you have a ton of things to scan, a scanner might be too slow. When we have large projects, we find that putting a macro lens on an SLR, putting the SLR on a small copy stand and putting a light box on the copy stand with the film produces very good quality results and it is MUCH quicker than scanning.

I compared V600 and V750, and I can say that the difference is very small. If one thinks V750 is great, he would think V600 is great, or if one thinks V600 sucks, he would say V750 sucks as well. They both shares the same drawbacks and strength. Use third party software.
