I've owned the 1.4, 1.8, and 2.0 FD 50s. The 1.4 is slightly better than the 1.8 and both are miles ahead of the 2.0, which feels quite cheap. While faster is better, the 1.4 is substantially heavier than the 1.8. Can't go wrong with either.

There are some wide Voigtlander lenses that are supposed to be very nice, but they're in the $400 range. Your best choice is a native e-mount for wide angle I think. The Sigma 19mm is a no-brainer at $150, or you can get the SEL16 and then have the option of the wide-angle adapter to go to 12mm. I don't think there are any legacy wide choices cheaper than that.

I'm currently learning telephoto with the SEL55210. Personally I haven't found it as rewarding as the other stuff I shoot but I think it's a good place to start.
