Confusing indeed, but glad to hear I can turn off the AF points in the display. They are very distracting.
But now a better question, if you are using a small AF focus area (such as flexible spot) does the camera limit PDAF focus points to those WITHIN the spot AF rectangle? I sure do not want the camera deciding to use AF points (PDAF or not) outside my AF rectangle.
