It was almost like the screen got overloaded with light once the 16mm pancake was removed. Then when i swapped to my 28-70 + EF-E adapter i could see an image but it was very Noisy and Grainy and multicolored like something out of a Trippy 70's movie.
I definitely got an immediate feeling that the camera didn't like what i had just done.
This part reminds me of this problem from Les. It didn't actually do much, but its not exactly something I would want done.

This is just one that pops up with a search at DPR, just that this particular post stood out and it is in the NEX forum as well. Might have nothing to do with it, but then again ....
