Thanks again everyone for your input I appreciate your insights.

This is not a JPG vs RAW thread as I am a dedicated RAW shooter who understands the advantages of the RAW format. But theoretical and actual results are not always the same. All the image/sensor data in the world is not helpful if my current workflow (ACR) does not produce as good or better results as an OOC JPG.

Uwe, mentioned the Nikon D1 and how at the time the RAW processing software was not as good as the OOC JPG. This gives me hope for the future.

I will have to try Capture One as mentioned.

I am not going to return the X-E1, I like the camera. I'm normally not a pixel peeper but with any new camera I am testing it's capabilities and limitations to better understand it strength and weakness. One positive, I have found the lack of detail (in the RAW files) is great for portraits.
