"99% of us" -- what is it? -- some secret society? Quite obviously, 99% of this forum, or, I even dare to say, 99% of consumers are not part of that group.

There is no mystery, really, the mirrorless market is very immature, even behind DSLRs in many areas, so it will take a few years before hardware reaches physical limits. At that point FF mirrorless will take off and the process will start all over again.

Given that whenever polls are taken in digital photo forums it comes to light that almost no one even makes prints from their high-end gear, I'd say that the 99% is probably a pretty good guess. Just because a market is immature doesn't mean the product isn't "good enough." Excellent film work was produced in the 40's and 50's and film was in its infancy. Having the best is not always needed. For the most part, the 12MP sensor limits enlargement size, but not a lot more.

I can make bigger enlargements from my E-P1 than I ever felt comfortable doing with color 35mm negatives.

While I tend to agree with you, the fact that most photos today are only viewed on monitors, iPads, etc. raises the question of whether print quality is still the most relevant standard for assessing image quality.

then 2 mp sensors should be more than enough for most of the LCD monitors out there.
