I got a D600 for Christmas. I'm enjoying it a lot.
This is my third Nikon DSLR. First I had a D1X, then a D200. Both of those had the Nikon 10-pin connector, and I've got a variety of accessories that use that connector, most notably a home-made wired/wireless shutter release that can be connected to a Pocket Wizard.
I was surprised when I looked over my new D600 to discover that it does not have the 10-pin connector that has been a staple on Nikon's higher end bodies for a long time now.
Exactly - it's a staple on Nikon's higher end bodies. The D600 is a D7000 level body, not higher end.
Point taken. It has a feel very much like my D200, but you're telling me it's more of a consumer-grade body, where the D200 is a "prosumer"?
I loved my D1X, but I injured my shoulder after using it for several years and the weight got to be a problem. The lighter bodies are easier to hold.
