It was almost like the screen got overloaded with light once the 16mm pancake was removed. Then when i swapped to my 28-70 + EF-E adapter i could see an image but it was very Noisy and Grainy and multicolored like something out of a Trippy 70's movie.

I definitely got an immediate feeling that the camera didn't like what i had just done.

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread. Did you mention before that you were using a 3rd party electronic adapter at the time the camera failed?

I'm not sure you should be so quick to blame Sony in this case. While there are a number of Metbones et al adapters out there, I am not sure they have the same relationship with Sony, and knowledge of the E-mount interface that companies like Sigma and Tamron do.

Even if it is a defect in this camera... these things happen. There will be some devices that pass final QC but still have a latent defect that causes them to fail once put into service. Judging by the scarcity of such experiences with NEX cameras, I don't think your experience was a common one, and, to me, doesn't sound like a good reason to run screaming from Sony and NEX. But, it's your decision. Hope you have better luck with whatever you buy next.

What are you going to do with the EF/E adapter? Will you reveal in an eBay ad that it may have killed a 6?
