Your picture has a sense of serenity about it that so many others of the recent flood devastation did not have. Even the boats appear to be content sitting quietly moored to the landing stage. Where were you to get the shot - on a bridge, a higher bank ??????

Those boat owners were fortunate - the landing 'appears' to be higher than the river bank opposite so the water has run off into the fields before breaching the landing and turning over the craft. The river would also not have suffered the torrents that have been seen in other rivers  - which could have torn the boats from their moorings.

The people in the buildings down river do not seem to be as fortunate though. It looks like they will have suffered the water invasion that made so many homeless over Xmas - and our hearts go out to them.
