I LOVE Lightroom 4, but gradient filters still have their place by giving you much more latitude when it comes to capturing and processing images with very high dynamic range. In my experience, I can pull around 2 stops of overexposure, and at least 3 stops of underexposure in LR4 without losing detail or inducing too much noise. The 5n is at least as good as the 7 in this respect, but that still doesn't make up for 8 stops.
