.......... should have a lock mechanism that prevents the lens removal with camera on and a sticker with BIG RED letter when unpacking the camera first time.Your washing machine or the dish washer will not open or seize operation when you try to open the door when they are in the cycle and this shouldn't be any different.
So the answer - for you and all the others who object to Sony's 'laxity' - is they should incorporate idiot locks and/or perhaps re-design the laws of physics? Simple static can kill sensitive electronics - I bet Sony don't warn against wearing synthetic clothing when using the camera either ...
Bluntly: how many letters of complaint do you think they would get if they did incorporate power-on lens interlock features? I know many who already curse their washer/dishwasher timer releases when in a hurry ... but would go ballistic if it were possible to flood the house ... or worse, injure themselves, by opening a working device.
The washer analogy is flawed too ... as it can't be opened whilst powered anyway ... I thought your argument was you didn't want to switch anything off?
Also, you'd like waiting for two minutes or so to remove a lens? i.e. to ensure all residual current flow, or any in-progress operations, had finished?
To the whole 'let's re-design the equipment' brigade - why incorporate another feature that can be accomplished by simply powering down. One for the ".... I never switch the power off when re-wiring the house ..." crowd - just how hard is it to switch something off momentarily?
It's this lack of simple commonsense (by a few) that ensures we all suffer ... as Health & Safety guys listen to the whiners, then swathe us all in cotton-wool 'blankies' - and endless regulations - to ensure the big bad world don't bite back. If you take the risk of power-on swaps ... why whine if it all goes wrong?
