Goodby imaginary D400?

Do you understand that the same size AF sensor from an FX camera put into a DX camera naturally goes further towards the edge because the DX sensor is smaller?  Look at the D3 and D300.  They have the same AF sensor part in each camera, but in the D300 they extend much further out.

I would be thrilled to have a D400 with the same AF as the D800 has because it is very high performance and would extend plenty far out on the D400.
