Whilst you have now successfully relocated managed master files to an external, I think the reason you have not freed up as much space on the internal drive as what you were expecting to free up is because the managed library on the internal drive contains thumbnails and generated jpeg previews for all of the relocated master files that are now residing on your external drive.

It sounds like you now have an external drive and should now be swapping over to a referenced library rather than a managed library.

Or what you could do is create a new managed library on your external drive.

I have multiple libraries on multiple external drives. Plus a single managed library on my internal drive.
