When is enough enough? Locked

People talking about cameras in a camera forum?  Hmm... why would that be?

This is a forum about gear where people talk about it.  No harm no foul.  As was intended.  In fact, that is why I come back and check out the forum.  I left Oly a while back but recently decided to jump back in.  By collecting the feedback and experiences of folks on this forum I was able to make a much more informed decision.

If this forum was populated by folks who didn't care about the performance about a camera and like anything and everything then I would not have had any feedback to be able to make my decision.  To me this forum performs as intended and does it well and many benefit.

Don't be a hater.

Technology and competition progress much faster now than before.  If people are willing to buy cameras every year because they enjoy it what's the big deal?  I shouldn't be forced to wear something from High School or my brother / dad / grandfather just because it still fits me and still "works" to cover my naked body.  If I want to buy a new shirt or pants what do you care.  If I choose to buy new clothes every week (like my old college roommate who was too lazy to do actual laundry) does it really impact your quality of life?

If so, you consider changing your point of view.

Yes, why would a for profit company like Panasonic try to improve their products and be competitive in a very difficult digital imaging market.  Yeah, they should totally release something from 70's everything was perfect then.  Hmm....

Be consistent. Are we allowed to focus on gear or not?  The sharpness in the highest end lenses doesn't improve composition or the quality of light.  Some brighter lenses might allow for better images in extreme conditions but for the most part kit zooms take photos just like more expensive primes.  Why buy lenses when mediocre is good enough?

$99?  Haha.  $35?  I'd like to introduce you to inflation and Autofocus.  Let's at least try to pretend to be realistic.

Buy an iPhone and zoom with your feet.  For some the increase in quality make no difference.  There is not try out period if you qualify for any camera.  If someone wants to drop cash for a Leica but can't differentiate which side of the camera is up. Should that be anyone else's concern?

First, you need better things to do with your free time.

Second, that you would check tells more about you than others.

Third, just because they don't post here doesn't mean they don't take photos.  It just means they don't post here.

Four, people aren't really obligated to announce their purchases.
