When is enough enough? Locked

...and cars continue to be faster than horses.Why haven't we stopped improving when they hit 50 mph just because they were better than everything else available? Why must my computer be more powerful than the abacus? It was good enough to build the pyramids! Technology keeps advancing, and there are always people out there who want the newest and the best. Change is inevitable, might as well enjoy it!

Many buy new gear the way others spend money on wine, shoes, or vacations. It's a luxury, and sure some may have strange ideas for how to spend their money, but so what? It's theirs to spend. As long as they aren't spending themselves to poverty and living on off public welfare as a result, I sure don't care.

Heck, if it wasn't for early adopters and gearheads, we would have a heck of a lot less to talk about around here, so maybe we should thank them. At the very least, reminding ourselves that others have the right to spend their money how they see fit is a relatively tame subject with which to practice tolerance toward others.
