Procedure & cost for getting D800 left-AF issue serviced?

Hi,
I preordered the D800 early last year and have a body from the first batch of shipments. Until now I didn't have a wide enough lens or a tripod to thoroughly test the left-AF, but I recently acquired both. I followed proper testing guidelines from Thom Hogan and others and have concluded that I do have an issue with the left-AF.
I've never had anything serviced from Nikon before, and I'm not sure where to begin. I'm a little antsy b/c I've heard from some people that they have to go through a lot of hassle to convince Nikon that their camera has a problem and to get it properly fixed. My questions are as follows:
1) Is there a specific URL or email I should contact to get to the "right people" while jumping through the least number of hoops?
2) My camera is still under warranty. Will they charge me for servicing my camera? If so, what price?
3) Will I have to pay (insured) round-trip shipping myself, or do they provide me a shipping label?
4) What's the average time frame for servicing this left AF issue?
I've been reading Thom's blog and his recent posts about Nikon's declining customer service have me a bit spooked about following through with this process. I would appreciate it if somebody could answer my questions and provide a general guideline for avoiding as much hassle as possible.
Thanks!
