I agree 100%.
Then wait for the prices to come down. You're comparing to a GH2 at $700, but at release it was $1000 body only, and held that price for quite a while.
This price was very comparable to the Canon 60D at the time, which lined up pretty well with the GH2 in features. So, as others have said, they have always been priced comparable to similar APS-C DSLR cameras at release.
