And I am not talking about pointless $1200.00 f/2.8 zoom lenses. How about some simple manual focus 12, 24 and 48mm f/2 lenses a la Voigtlander but with plastic bodies selling for $99.00 each? Think it can't be done? Look at the Fujinon 35mm f/1.8 that sells for about $35.00.

Couldn't agree more. The EM5 will have its update before too long, and a new model isn't far away that will provide decent focus performance to tempt 4/3 owners to use their HG and SHG lenses. So once again, many will upgrade and take that path, but at what cost?

The Pentax K30 is an obvious move in the direction you speak of. Lightweight body, yet WR, and with all the latest technology ie Focus Peaking, and that SONY sensor. All for £319 (SRS UK) after cashback.

This cam produces an IQ virtually equal to the K5II & K5IIs, and will give any DSLR out there a run for its money. Add to that the huge number of low priced Pentax legacy manual lenses out there, and we have at last, a low priced, high performing body, that will be more than adequate for the majority of users, if the taking of photographs really is their game.

I suspect though that an awful lot of EM5 buyers find its jewel-like appeal enough reason to splash the cash ...  again, again ... and again. Even on some truly sub-par µ4/3 lenses.
