IQ of Zeiss 24-70/2.8 on A57

Is A57 good enough for Zeiss 24-70/2.8? Will A57 be able to take full advantage of it, or the Zeiss is better suited for high MP bodies like A77/A99?
Trying to decide if I should just use the Zeiss 24-70/2.8 with A57 (won't have any lens budget for at least another 1-2 years, except for a cheapo 50/1.8), or instead, get a Sony 16-50/2.8 + upcoming Zeiss 50/1.4 prime. Mainly for indoor/city photography and occasional landscapes/tourism.
