I'll throw in my vote for the Sony NEX-7.  I used that camera so much last year with such good results that I sold off my Canon kit.  I thought I was a full mirrorless convert...until I shot with the D800...so now use both.

Size, flexibility and image quality are very good with the NEX-7.  When you just want to get good pictures and don't want to carry a bag full of gear its a fantastic camera.

Get a manual focus fast prime, enable focus peaking and prepare to be amazed at how much fun this camera is.

One other note, I still use my NEX-7 for video over my D800.  On the Sony its literally a one button push and out comes impressive video every time.  I do admit to not fully diving into video on the D800 yet, perhaps after I understand everything the D800 can do on the video side this will change.
