Nikon 24-120 or Tamron 24-70 VC as walk-around lens?

I've used both and I eventually went with the Tamron for its faster aperture.  In my opinion image quality on both lenses was really good, the Tamron being better at the wide end.

The extra reach on the Nikon really comes in handy for outdoor shots and general travel type usage.  The better light gathering ability of the Tamron is nice for indoor events like parties and family gatherings.
