Without a doubt, video capability matters to market as much as stills do... It may be to some's not interest, but it does matter to market... The NEX system is able to provide a mirrorless compact APS-c or WITH FF sensor, as well as ...a videocamera able to shoot a Hollywood film with either an S35 or even a FF sensor.

All, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax & Olympus have moved into that market... Canon and Nikon are expected/rumored to follow this year, ...in the mean time, APS-c DSLRs are being cannibalized by both mirrorless and the expansion of FF by Nikon and Canon, who having foreseeing the future, move their customers to FF, keeping their APS-c only as entry level to their FF.

In this new mirrorless market, Olympus and Panasonic are handicapped (although with great products) ...because of their micro 4/3rds sensor choice, which magnifies image by x2..., this means that an existing 24mm FF lens can only start from 28mm equivalent... Canon is handicapped too, because all their Pro/Hi-end videocameras are with EOS mount...

Nikon however, is expected to come up with a new mount that will be able to, 1. Bare a FF sensor as well as APS-c and 2. Use their current (and previous) lenses via an adapter... They also seem to have the leadership from Canon with their FF DSLR sales.

...I strongly suspect that in the following years, Nikon will also be releasing camcorder and Hi-end videocameras, that will even compete at the highest level of Filmmaking, based on their new mirrorless mount and fight with Sony for the leadership in imaging...
