A few years ago I had the opportunity to test a Leica 24mm/2.8 Elmarit-R ( manual focus )that was rebuild to fit on Minolta and Sony A-mount.
The conclusion was almost the same . At apartures 8-11 the Minolta was as good as the Leica . Only at 2.8 - 4 - 5.6 the corner sharpness of the Leica was a lot better than the Minolta . When you shoot landschapes or architecture at 8-11 the Minolta is as good as a Leica or Zeiss .

in fact, that Leica Elmarit-R 24mm was a Minolta design, built with Minolta glass, identical to the Minolta branded MD 24mm f2.8 of the time. I do not recall if the later A-mount version was the same design or not, but, if it was, performance should have been identical at all apertures, bar sample variations.
