Beginner's question: opinion on cropping

... which means you'll vigorously defend your stance no matter how ridiculous and absurd it gets. I know you have your mind completely made up on this, but consider reading Greg L's post carefully and see his examples and rationale. I realize in your world of black and white, gray simply doesn't exist, but Greg hit it on the head. Your purist's view on cropping and distance from your subject would seriously hinder anyone's chances for success with bird photography. Seems like you're one of very few people here who simply don't get that fact.
