Canon ix6550, MacBook Pro and Lightroom 4

I currently own a nikon d3100 and a few lenses, waiting until the new year to see what that brings as regards to a new body. But anyway for now I have just recieved a canon ix6550 a3+ photo printer.

Any idea if 14mp for now is good enough for a 13x19 print? Which is I believe the max size I can print with this printer.

Second of all I have just tried 6x4 prints on some old hp photo paper I had lying around and it seemed the print didn't replicate the same colours as I seen on my screen with Lightroom 4. Is it possible the paper being hp will make this colour difference? Or is my monitor off and how could I change this. I want to make sure it's all right before I start printing big and chucking money down the drain...

cheers in advance

lloyd
