Compact, versatile, and affordable external flash suggestions for XZ-1?

Season's greetings!  Can anyone recommend a decent external flash for the XZ-1 (is there a favorite model on this forum)?  I'd prefer something pocketable that can swivel for bounce and hopefully retains compatibility with the XZ-1's control interface.  I'm not looking for a professional unit for technical shots, just something to take better casual indoor shots.  Cost is also a factor as I don't want to spend more on the flash than I spent on the camera ($199 on sale).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions (or models to avoid).
