I have and use both, and find that they have quite different usese in my set up

The 70-200 2.8 is big heavy and fast, and I would use that in low light situations where the 70-300 would struggle.

If I can get away with anything slower I would always go with the 70-300 which is more waftable, being lighter and produces great IQ additionally you can add a Kenko 1.4TC for even more length if required

If you can only get one then you need to assess if your need for f2.8 is greater than your need for focal length reach
